 Missions Report: Burma
Missionary Allan Brown working in Burma:
Alan's Ministry supported by Calvary I came in to my office this Monday morning with a horrible email to have to read.
Our main contact along the border said that over the weekend two toddlers (two boys 3 yrs old) went missing from our New Day school nursery. There had lately at another location been sightings of a black van with two Thai men trying to lure a toddler into their vehicle.
All of our friends in Mae Sot was doing all they could to scour the town, including the homes of known "brokers" to see if they could find the toddlers. I know the feeling of thinking a child is lost from our the experience of our own toddlers that have wandered off in public areas. You imagine the worst case scenario.
Right before I could finish my email to you all desperately asking for you all to pray, I got a call saying that the two boys had been found across the bridge inside Burma. They are now safely back with some very happy and teary-eyed parents and teachers at the school. I am not clear on the details but it seems that there was no foul play. I was at New Day school a week ago visiting these little tikes. Friends from California led them in same funny songs and bought them extra pillows for nap time. The kids were sining along as best they could, happy, laughing faces. They are the sweetest little kids- just beautiful!
I then thought, "why didn't I make this place safer for them, Why did I drag my feet on getting them another helper" (now there is a 1 teacher/40 toddlers ratio) and fencing to keep the odd straggler from wandering off.
*Note: As a result our trip to Burma to view this area, Calvary has started supporting Allan and a new teacher has been added to the staff.
