 First Steps Nursery
The Purpose of the Nursery
Our purpose is to provide a safe, fun and comfortable environment for both you and your child. To accomplish this, our workers will walk, rock, read, teach and play with your children to insure they are content.
We want your child to feel welcome and a part of our program through the people and activities that God has placed in this ministry area.

We are located in the lower level, to the right of the escalator in the Worship Center. Helpful and Good Health Guidelines
We will do our best to provide good care while your child is with us. Here are some things you can do to help:
- Please put your child's name on your diaper bag, bottle, cups, pacifiers, etc., with masking tape or a permanent ink pen.
- Please do not bring personal items such as toys to the Nursery as they may get lost
- Please check your child's information card at least once a month to mark any changes.
- Your child may cry when left with us. This reaction is normal. The child's fussing will become less common with regular attendance.
- Follow our good health guidelines.
Because we want to provide a healthy environment in our Nursery, we would ask that you keep your child home when observing any of the following:
Fever/Vomiting Discharge in or around the eyes Green or yellow runny nose Any communicable disease Diarrhea Questionable rash Excessive Cough
If you baby becomes ill while in the Nursery, you will be notified promptly.
If your child is being treated with an antibiotic, he or she should have received treatment for at least 24 hours before coming to the Nursery.
For your child's protection, we ask our caregivers to follow these same guidelines.
Nursery Staff
The Nursery is staffed with one paid individual in each room. The rest of the workers are parents and other willing volunteers who are scheduled to work on a rotating schedule.
When your child becomes a regular member of the Nursery by having consistent attendance, we will ask you to volunteer at least two times per year. Dads and moms are encouraged to team up together for Nursery duty.
Visual Paging System
The number you receive when you check your child in serves as a security check as well as a paging number. Should your child need you during the service, the number will appear on the monitors located on each side of the Worship Center platform. Please go immediately to your child's room at the end of the service, where the tag should be turned in to the teacher. Only an adult with a matching tag will be allowed to pick up a child.
Why Use the Nursery?
For your child's sake
Bringing your child to the Nursery on a consistent basis allows him/her to associate "going to church" with being taught in a caring place.
For your sake
Bringing your child to his/her own class allows you (and others) to receive ministry in the services or classes that you may desire to attend.
